Ornan Continued Threshing Wheat

Today's reading: 1 Chronicles 21-22; John 20

1 Chronicles 21:20 Now Ornan turned and saw the angel; and his four sons who were with him hid themselves, but Ornan continued threshing wheat.

Ornan was some kind of dude. He turned and saw and angel and basically shrugged and went back to threshing his wheat while everyone else ran away scared. I realize that there's no such thing as an ordinary angel but this particular angel had just been destroying Jerusalem. I could never figure out what Ornan saw that and simply turned and got back to work on the harvest.

Maybe its simple and I'm over thinking it. Could it be that Ornan was so focused on the harvest that He didn't have time to stop and stare at an angel? We all face distractions that draw our attention away from what's really important when it comes to our commission by Jesus. It was Jesus who told us that the harvest was ready and that that laborers were few. He told us to stay focused on the work at hand and not get distracted by all of the crazy things going on around us. Maybe the lesson to be learned from Ornan is that when it's harvest time everything else has to wait.
